Mini Review for Mini Products

Mini Review for Mini Products

Like many beauty bloggers, I have a love for mini products. Really, how can you not love mini products? they’re tiny, adorable and a great way to test out a product before committing to a full sized product. Today, I thought I would share some mini reviews for some of the minis I’ve been using recently. All of these products were either point perks from Sephora, or gift with purchases.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner: I’m still not great at lining my eyes using a liquid liner, however this liner from Kat Von D does make it easier. It’s got a super fine nib, that makes lining idiot proof, even for the likes of me! I also really like that it doesn’t smudge, at all. Once it’s dry, it’s not moving until you take it off.       *Would I purchase the full size version?: Yes

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser: There was a lot of love given to this cleanser when it was first released, (including from the lovely Caroline Hirons, whose skincare recommendations have never steered me wrong!). It’s a cleanser that starts out as a gel consistency, which then turns into an oil, and then to a milky consistency when you add water. I love both oil cleansers, and melting cleansers, but I wasn’t a fan of this one. It almost felt to dry, so it never really got as oily as I would have liked it to.                                                                                                                                                                                                        *Would I purchase the full size version?: No

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara: I’m constantly trying to find a mascara that won’t smudge, so mini mascaras are my friend! This Urban Decay mascara is actually quite nice, and very black. It applies nicely, and isn’t to wet or clumpy. It still smudges slightly on me, but doesn’t give me racoon eyes, which is a win in my book.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 *Would I purchase the full size version?: Yes, already did!

Clarins Instant Light Complexion Illuminating Base in Rose: I previously used the old version of this illuminating base, and while I liked it, I was never really blown away. The same can be said for this new version. It’s a pink tinted cream, which does brighten up my skin slightly, but doesn’t wow me. There are definitely other illuminating bases, which have a more noticeable impact.                                                                                                                              *Would I purchase the full size version?: No

Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer: I find eye shadow primers are really hit and miss. Personally, I preferred to use a cream eye shadow as a base, instead of a traditional primer. This primer however, has made me reconsider that preference. It’s a creamy primer, that dries quickly and really extends the wear time of any eyeshadow. It’s definitely the best eye shadow primer I’ve tried.                                                                                                                                    *Would I purchase the full size version?: Yes

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: This is another product that has been raved about for years, but I have only now got around to trying it. This primer is definitely worth the hype, it goes on so smoothly and seems to perfect the skin. While at the same, extending the staying power of every foundation I’ve used it with.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             *Would I purchase the full size version?: Yes, already did!

September Makeup Bag

Septembers Makeup Bag

Today I’m sharing with you the key items I’m switching up in my makeup bag for September. I’ve been wearing a mostly no makeup makeup look all summer, and so my makeup bag is definitely in need of a shakeup.

For my base, I’m switching out the tinted moisturizer and going for an actual foundation. I picked up the Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint on a recent trip to Sephora, it was a totally spur of the moment pick and I’m absolutely loving it! It caught my eye because it contains hyaluronic acid, which is a key ingredient in helping skin hold moisture, which my skin desperately needs. It’s a medium to high coverage foundation, so I use a damp beauty blender to keep it sheer, but still with coverage.

On top of the foundation, I’ve switched out my MAC Skin Finish Natural for the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder. This gives slight more coverage then the MAC powder and sets the foundation to a very fall like velvety finish. I’m not ready to completely let go of summer makeup, so I’m throwing in my Laura Mercier Blush in Heather Pink, which is a lovely bright pink shade that gives the skin a nice healthy glow.

For my eyes, I’m loving MAC Eyeshadow in Satin Taupe, it’s the perfect smokey purple grey and just screams fall to me. For my eyes, I’m loving the Stila Smudge Stick Eyeliner in Damsel, it’s a great brown/black shade that looks great smoked out.

Finally, for my lips I’ve been using the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked it’s the perfect rosey toned, my lips but better lipstick, which I think is perfect for fall.

So there you have it, the products that I’m adding to my makeup bag this month!
