In-Flight Skincare Essentials

In Flight Skincare

Today, I thought I would share my in-flight skincare essentials. I travel fairly frequently, and mostly on 5+ hour flights, which are awful on my dehydrated skin. Over the years, I’ve figured out what things I can do in-flight, to help alleviate some of the stress caused by the flight. These products all do double duty, and are part of my travel skincare routine as well (you can read that post here).

As soon as the seatbelt sign goes off, I head to the bathroom to take care of my skin. I start by using the Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes to take off anything that’s on my skin, so it’s relatively clean before I do anything else. I then apply the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask all over my face, including under my eyes. This is a deluxe sample, that I got and treat it like gold. It’s super expensive to buy, but is absolutely amazing and so hydrating to my skin when I fly. When I don’t have a sample of this mask, I use whatever moisture mask I have on hand. The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Mask is another great, and much more affordable option.

Back at my seat, I’ll use the Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel (cause we all know how many germs a plane has). I’ll then use the First Aid Ultra Repair Cream as a hand cream, if the flight is super long, at some point this ends up on my face as well.

I always end up applying a ton of lip balm during the flight, and love using The Body Shop Aloe Lip Care. It’s great at keeping my lips hydrated, and I don’t have to dip my fingers into a pot.

Depending on the length of the flight, I may apply another layer of the mask, but most of my flights are around the 5 hour mark and once is plenty. I find that when I do this in-flight, my skin is much happier and don’t end up with super dehydrated skin once I get off the plane.

Do you have an tips for in-flight skincare essentials?

Currently Testing & First Impressions – BB/CC Edition

Currently Testing

If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll know that I’m a little bit of a base junkie. Especially lightweight bases like tinted moisturizers, BB and CC creams. I’m always looking for a holy grail base that gives me the perfect ‘your skin but better.’ I thought I would share with you the bases that I’m currently testing out, and my first impressions.

Dr.Jart+ Black Label Detox Beauty Balm – This is my first Dr.Jart purchase. I’ve read a lot about their BB Creams, but haven’t been able to swatch them in person, so I’ve been reluctant to try them out. This is a mini size that I ordered from Sephora, from their always tempting travel section. I thought it would be a good way to test it out, for significantly less than buying a full size version. I’ve worn it a couple times, and really like the texture and coverage. It has good coverage for a BB cream, and definitely gives the ‘your skin but better’ look. The issue I have with this is the shade. It only comes in one shade, and it is far too pink for my skin tone. I’m hoping that it might work better when I’m more tanned, otherwise this one is getting passed along.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin CC Cream – I’ve had an on and off love affair with Neutrogena over the years, most recently off. I normally wouldn’t have picked this up, but it was on sale at Target, and I do like Neutrogena’s sunscreens, so I picked it up. I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. It has very light coverage, it doesn’t really hide anything, but it does even out the skin tone. I’ve been wearing this on days when I don’t actually want to wear makeup, but would still like a more even skin tone. I definitely want to test this as it gets warmer, and see if it makes my skin oilier.

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream – I had been putting off picking up this BB cream, because I have so many. But on a recent visit, they were offering $5 off for members of their rewards program, so I caved. Of the three that I’m testing, this is the only one without a sunscreen. I have mixed feelings about that, because while I don’t necessarily want a sunscreen in my foundation, I actually like having one in BB creams. As I tend to wear them on no makeup days, I like that it’s one less step I have to complete. Other than that, I’ve been enjoying using this one. As far as coverage goes, it’s in the middle of these three. Less coverage than the Dr.Jart+, but more than the Neutregena. Of the three, it’s also the only one that starts out white, and then shade adjusts as you blend. It definitely has the best shade selection of the 3, and is the shade that works best for me.

I will definitely keep you up to date on these, and let you know my thoughts as I continue to test them out.

Are you testing any new BB creams?
