Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette

Open

Hi Everyone,

I have a confession, I’m seriously obsessed with the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette, it’s definitely my favourite of all the Naked palettes.

When I bought this palette I honestly didn’t think I would use it very often, it as the name suggests is basic, and really how often can you use a palette of mainly neutral matte eyeshadows. Man was I ever wrong! I have used this palette everyday (that I’ve worn makeup), since buying it. It’s become a staple in my makeup bag, and that’s saying a lot, because I have a serious collection of eyeshadow palettes.

On first glance, this palette really doesn’t look that exciting, compared to something like the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette or the Naked 3, but looks are definitely deceiving, it’s small but mighty.

It contains 6 very neutral shades, 5 matte and 1 shimmer (Venus), and can be used for a variety of looks, from a light neutral day look to a dark smokey eye, and all of this is packed in a tiny little container (shorter than a NARS Creamy Concealer Tube).

The formula is super buttery and pigmented and  blend well together. My favourite shades are Naked 2, which is not only the perfect crease colour, but a lovely colour for the lid and Venus, which is great for a brow bone highlight.

Swatches

L to R: Venus, Foxy, W.O.S, Naked 2, Faint, Crave

I cannot recommend this palette enough, it really can be used to create a multitude of looks. I’ve been travelling a lot recently, and this has been the only eyeshadow palette I’ve been packing, it has everything I need.

Have you tried the Naked Basics Palette?

Thanks for stopping by!

Meg

Hey Everyone,

I recently picked up some stuff from MAC and Sephora and thought I would share it with you, since I’ve had the chance to try almost everything out. Some of these products are brand new releases, and some are things that are new to me.

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eyes Mascara – I have read a ton of reviews on this mascara, and was at a Sephora that sells Bobbi Brown, so I thought I would pick it up. This is actually the only product that I haven’t tried out yet. I’m still finishing a couple mascaras, and don’t want to open it until I’m ready to use it.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle – So I finally took got on the band wagon and picked up this highlighter, which has attained cult status in the beauty world. It’s definitely worth the hype, I’ve used it a couple of times and absolutely love it!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder in Naked Light – This is a recent launch from Urban Decay Naked line, and this powder looked so finely milled when I swatched it I wanted to try it out. I’ve used it a couple times and am so far pretty impressed, though I’m still trying to figure out which buffing brush is the best to use to buff it into my skin.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Brown – This is a repurchase, I love these liquid liners. The colours are rich, and they dry nice and matte, have great staying power.

Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kôhl Liner in Bare – As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I love nude eyeliners and this always sharp, waterproof version from Smashbox caught my attention, so I thought I would try it out. So far it definitely has the staying power, however I’m not sold on this particular shade of nude with my skin tone.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection – This was a last minute add one when I was in MAC purchasing Soft and Gentle, it’s a long lasting pink toned cream shadow. My only complaint, which I didn’t notice it when swatched is that there is some shimmer in the formula, which has some fall out. I find it too glittery for day time.

Urban Decay De-slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray – This is also a repurchase. I love love love this setting spray. I have dry skin, and find that setting powders make the dryness worse, so I use this spray in it’s place.

Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Naked and Nooner – These are also new editions to the Urban Decay Naked collection, and I am seriously addicted to them already. They’re glossy and moisturizing, but not too shinny. I’m definitely going to go back for more shades. While Naked and Nooner look similar when swatched, Nooner is darker version of Naked.
