November 2014 Favourites

November 2014 Favourites

Well it’s once again Favourites time! November has flown by, this month had the Sephora VIB Sale, my birthday, Spark Sessions and IMATS. As I managed to do some serious hauling this month, I’m still testing a bunch of the products, so this months favourites are things that I have been using and loving throughout the month. It’s a mix of new products, and a couple of rediscoveries.

Benefit Gimme Brows in Light/Medium – I’ve had this brow gel for ages, but pulled it back out after I ran out of my Anastasia Brow Wiz. I forgot how easy it was to get amazing eye brows with this. A quick swipe of this across my brows and the sparse areas are filled in, and the brows are defined. Not sure I’ll ever go back to a pencil again.

Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Palette in Bare Necessities – Yup, that’s right. Another nude palette is being included in my favourites. I have a nude palette problem. Moving beyond that, this little palette packs a serious punch. The shades are warmer than most of my other nude eyeshadow palettes, and some are quite similar to the Naked 3 palette. There’s 5 shimmery shades and 1 matte, which normally I wouldn’t be a fan of, however these aren’t overly shimmery and are so buttery and easy to blend. Plus the size makes it great for travelling.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze – This is another rediscovery for me. This was probably the first colour tattoo I ever bought! It was well loved, but got pushed aside for other cream eyeshadows. It’s again in heavy rotation in my makeup bag. For days when I don’t have a lot of time, a swipe of this across my eyelid makes it look like I put in way more of an effort than I actually did. Plus, it stays all day.

Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher in 2 Fair – I’m having a serious love affair with Charlotte Tilbury at the moment (and Beautylish who’s quick delivery helps enable the affair). The Retoucher is basically a hybrid between a concealer and a highlighter. As if YSL Touche Eclat and Nars Creamy Concealer had a beautiful rose gold baby. This is just the perfect concealer for under the eyes. It doesn’t crease or settle in my fine lines, plus it isn’t drying. On days when I’m going for a light base, I’ll use this to both conceal and highlight. Love love love.

Christian Dior Rouge Dior Baume in 788 Fleur Bleue – This is a new release from Christian Dior. It’s a lipstick/balm hybrid, which is super easy to apply, but packs a serious colour punch. I’m easing my way into wearing red lips, and this semi-sheer formula is perfect. It’s low maintenance and super hydrating, it’s definitely pricey but so gorgeous.

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille – I am absolutely, 100% in love with this fragrance. It is just…I have no words. Picked this up at the Sephora VIB Sale, and have been wearing it non stop. It’s a sophisticated smokey vanilla scent, that I just cannot get enough of. It’s musky, yet feminine. I was pricey, even with the VIB discount, so I’m trying not to over use it, but man. It’s just amazing.

So there you have it, some serious ramblings about my favourite products of November.

Thanks for stopping by!

September 2014 Favourites

September 2014 Favs

It’s favourites time again here on Meg’s Makeup Bag. My September 2014 favourites are a first here on the blog, because there are only 3 of them, and because they are all drugstore products. I have been playing a bunch of new products this month, but haven’t really had enough time to call any of them favourites. These 3 products are all new to me within the last month, and quickly made their way to favourite status.

Essence Lash Mania Waterproof Mascara – This was one of those completely random purchases that is now a favourite! I was heading out to an event after work, and had forgotten to put on mascara that morning, so I popped into the drugstore to grab one. I picked this one based on the cost ($3.99) and the fact that I’m a fan of other Essence products. It’s a great mascara, and is actually waterproof, and doesn’t smudge on my eyes. The formula gives you long defined lashes, and can be built up nicely. The brush is a plastic brush, which has a very similar shape to the new Stila Mile High Mascara. For the price, you really can’t beat it.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser - This is one of those products that a ton of beauty bloggers and vloggers swear by, but until recently I had resisted purchasing. I now understand why they swear by it! It’s a great under eye concealer, that is super lightweight and doesn’t settle into the fine lines under my eyes. Despite being lightweight, it does a great job at covering the dark circles which seem to be permanent residents under my eyes. I also really enjoy the sponge applicator, as it makes it super easy and mess proof to apply.

Sonia Kashuk Primer Base – I’ve long been a fan of Sonia Kashuk products, and have rarely been disappointed in any of my purchases. This primer is no exception, it’s a thick gel like primer that really helps to prolong my foundation and blur imperfections on my face. It almost feels more like a thick serum/skincare treatment than it does a makeup base. Definitely worth taking a look at, if you’re in the market for a new primer.

So there you have it! A drugstore only September 2014 favourites!

Thanks for stopping by!
