Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow

I recently did some serious hauling of Charlotte Tilbury products from beautylish.com. The main goal being to pick up this beautiful Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow palette. I had seen so many awesome reviews of this palette, and just had to try it out. This is probably one of the very few products that I used before taking pictures, because I just couldn’t resist it.

I feel like there should be some sort of angels singing every time I open this palette, it’s just so pretty! It’s similar to contour kits that have been released from NARS and Make Up Forever. It has the bronze/tan sculpting colour and a gorgeous highlight colour. When you first open it up, this kit has much more shimmer than other similar products, however that shimmer doesn’t translate as intensely onto the skin. Even swatched the sculpt side looks shimmery, but it doesn’t translate to the skin at all. Instead, when you put it on the skin it gives you the most gorgeous bronzed glow, and when used to contour, gives you cheekbones for days. I find it adds more dimension, compared to a matte bronzer. It’s just gorgeous!

The glow side has quickly become my favourite highlighter ever! It definitely gives you glow, I don’t tend to use this on a daily basis because it does pack quite a punch. But when I want a highlight, this is my go to! It’s not a shimmery highlight, more of a glowy one. It’s like you’re lit from within. My best comparison would be if the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and MAC Soft & Gentle had a baby, this would be it!

September 2014 Favourites

September 2014 Favs

It’s favourites time again here on Meg’s Makeup Bag. My September 2014 favourites are a first here on the blog, because there are only 3 of them, and because they are all drugstore products. I have been playing a bunch of new products this month, but haven’t really had enough time to call any of them favourites. These 3 products are all new to me within the last month, and quickly made their way to favourite status.

Essence Lash Mania Waterproof Mascara – This was one of those completely random purchases that is now a favourite! I was heading out to an event after work, and had forgotten to put on mascara that morning, so I popped into the drugstore to grab one. I picked this one based on the cost ($3.99) and the fact that I’m a fan of other Essence products. It’s a great mascara, and is actually waterproof, and doesn’t smudge on my eyes. The formula gives you long defined lashes, and can be built up nicely. The brush is a plastic brush, which has a very similar shape to the new Stila Mile High Mascara. For the price, you really can’t beat it.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser - This is one of those products that a ton of beauty bloggers and vloggers swear by, but until recently I had resisted purchasing. I now understand why they swear by it! It’s a great under eye concealer, that is super lightweight and doesn’t settle into the fine lines under my eyes. Despite being lightweight, it does a great job at covering the dark circles which seem to be permanent residents under my eyes. I also really enjoy the sponge applicator, as it makes it super easy and mess proof to apply.

Sonia Kashuk Primer Base – I’ve long been a fan of Sonia Kashuk products, and have rarely been disappointed in any of my purchases. This primer is no exception, it’s a thick gel like primer that really helps to prolong my foundation and blur imperfections on my face. It almost feels more like a thick serum/skincare treatment than it does a makeup base. Definitely worth taking a look at, if you’re in the market for a new primer.

So there you have it! A drugstore only September 2014 favourites!
