Drugstore Base Combo I’ve Been Loving

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick, Garnier Ultra Lift Transformer, Drugstore Foundation Combination

Today, I’m sharing with you the drugstore ‘your skin but better’ combination that I’ve been loving.

I love wearing a lightweight base like a BB/CC creme or a tinted moisturizer; especially now as we finally have summer like weather here in Toronto. My issue is that sometimes, I want a little bit more coverage than the lightweight base provides. Until recently, I’ve been using a liquid concealer like the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to provide additional coverage, which worked ok but never wowed me.

Enter the Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation, which I picked up during Shoppers Drug Mart’s huge sale on Maybelline products. It was a complete spur of the moment purchase (mainly because it was only $6.99), I honestly expected to hate it and pass it on to a friend. Instead, it’s become a key piece in my makeup collection.

I have been using the Fit Me Stick alongside my favourite ‘your skin but better’ base, the Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer, which I have raved about repeatedly on the blog (review here). It’s just been the perfect combination for the ‘your skin but better’, without being to heavy. I use the stick where I want a little bit of additional coverage, especially on my cheeks where I have some redness.

The Fit Me Stick feels like a stick foundation and a primer mixed together. It applies so smoothly to the face, and blends beautifully. While I wouldn’t use it as an all over foundation, it’s perfect for the spots where you need a little bit of extra coverage. Basically, instead I use it as a stick concealer, and it works like a charm.

So there you have my go-to combination that I’ve been loving it.

Have you tried the Maybelline Fit Me Stick?

Thanks for stopping by!

My Go-To Minimal Makeup Look

Minimal Makeup

Hey Everyone,

Happy Friday!

By now it’s hopefully obvious that I love makeup! I like to experiment with new products and looks, but on a normal everyday basis I don’t wear a ton of makeup. In fact my favourite look to do, is a very minimal makeup look, a “you but better look”.

So today, I thought I would show you the products that I like to use when I’m going for a minimal makeup look. I tend to wear this look a lot at work on casual Friday’s, and on the weekend when I’m out and about and want to wear some makeup. A lot of these products I’ve mentioned before, in fact most of these products were featured in my March favourites.

I start with the Garnier Ultra-Lift Transformer (I reviewed it hear…spoiler…love it), this tinted moisturizer evens my skin tone and gives my skin a lovely glow. I find that I need less concealer when I use the Ultra Lift, but for anywhere that does need a little bit of extra concealing, I use my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla. I use just the tiniest bit of this concealer to cover any spots or redness, I also use this to cover the dark circles under my eyes. I have mostly dry, dehydrated skin and find that I don’t need to set my base with a powder, especially during the cooler months.

Once I’m happy with my base, I’ll add The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02, I’ve spoken many times about this bronzer, but it’s really that awesome and the price can’t be beat. I use this to bronze up my face, and as a crease colour for my eyes to add a little bit of definition, as I’m not going to use any other eyeshadow. Then I apply my Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso, which I cannot get enough of, it just adds a gorgeous pop of colour to my cheeks.

I apply my go-to L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara, which I keep coming back to because it holds the curl in my lashes and doesn’t smudge or give me panda eyes. I then touch up my brows with the Benefit Gimme Brow in Light/Medium.

Finally, I apply the Dior Lip Glow to my lips; this hydrates and makes my lips the perfect natural pink shade.

I find this combination of products evens out my skin tone and makes me look put together, without looking over done, which is always my goal when I’m going for a minimal makeup look.
