My Favourite Lip Care Duo

My Favourite Lip Care Duo

Today, I thought I would share with you my favourite lip care duo: the Nuxe Reve de Miel and the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish. The combination of these two products gives me such smooth and hydrated lips. It’s like what the combination of a face scrub and moisturizer does for your face. I’ve been using lip balm for as long as I can remember, but it’s only recently that I started to use a lip scrub. I’ve found using a scrub makes such a huge difference to how lipsticks and stains look on my lips.

I’ve previously written about my love for the Nuxe Reve de Miel (you can read the blog post here), and it remains my favourite lip balm. One pot lasted me almost 8 months, and I haven’t found another lip balm that does as a good a job at keeping my lips hydrated overnight.

The Fresh Sugar Lip Polish is a great lip scrub. It’s got little pieces of sugar (hence the name), which exfoliate and a mixture of oils and shea butter that hydrates the lips. It’s similar to the the Lush Lip Scrub, however I like this one better because I find the pieces of sugar are smaller and don’t feel as rough on the skin.

While I use the Nuxe Reve de Miel every night, I tend to use the combination of the two products 2-3 times a week, usually at the same time that I’m doing a face mask. I start with the Sugar Lip Polish, and use a tiny bit all over my lips and then remove the excess with a face cloth. I then layer the lip balm onto my lips and go to bed. The newly exfoliated skin on my lips, absorbs all the moisture from the lip balm and when I wake up, they’re smooth and hydrated.

So there you have it, my favourite lip care duo that gives me smooth and hydrated lips. Perfect for when I want to wear a matte lipstick and have it look great on my lips.

Travel Skincare – Carryon Edition

Carryon Skincare

Hey Everyone,

I end up doing a lot of overnight and 2 day business trips, which are an insane amount of meeting shoved into just a few days. For these trips, carry on luggage is really the only option. This initially presented a challenge for me, as I am a huge skin care junkie and the thought of all my skincare fitting into a ziplock baggie stressed me out. Through trial and error, I’ve figured out what I actually need and don’t need, and how to fit it all into the dreaded baggie.

Firstly, samples are your friend! I always ask for samples anytime I make a purchase at Sephora, makeup counters, anywhere I know they have samples. Kiehl’s is great for that, because you always get samples with each purchase. At Sephora, I’m always scouting their 100pt perks for products that are travel friendly. I’ve managed to get the total products I bring with me down to 10 items, and could probably get rid of at 1 or 2 if needed.

First off, I always bring a lip balm, in this case it’s The Body Shop Aloe Lip Care. When it comes to a moisturizer, I always bring something super hydrating, that can multitask. I got this First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream as a 100pt perk at Sephora. It’s amazing for travel, I would say it’s my #1 travel essential. I apply this on the plane to keep my skin hydrated during the flight, and then use it both as my moisturizer and eye cream in the morning/evening. It can also be used as a hand and body cream.

My skin hates air travel, I have super dehydrated skin which just gets more dehydrated on a plane. So I always bring a sheet mask with me to use in the evening at the hotel. I love the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Mask because it’s super hydrating, plus I use the leftover serum in the package as my am serum.

I don’t use makeup wipes on a regular basis at home, but they’re great when travelling. I use them to remove my makeup, before washing my face, plus they can double as wet wipes in a pinch. The Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes are great, they easily remove makeup, the wipes are soft and they don’t dry out the skin. The Avene Thermal Spring Water is probably one of the products I could omit (if absolutely necessary), but it’s great to add extra moisture to the skin and to use as a toner in a pinch. I swear by the Kiehl’s Antiperspirant, I love that they have a travel size that fits nicely in to my bag.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair is my go-to evening serum, and this sample size bottle is perfect to bring with me when I travel. I just refill it from my big bottle when it gets low. I use an oil in the evening to hydrate my skin, and this mini size of the Tarte Maracuja Oil that I got as a point perk from Sephora is the perfect travel size.

For face wash and toner, I always pack samples that I can throw out at the hotel before I head home. Both the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner packets are great for overnight trips, they have enough product to use at least a couple times, but then can be thrown out.

Skincare Packed

All packed up in the dreaded ziploc

Hope you enjoyed this peek into the skincare essentials I bring with me when I travel carryon. If I’m checking luggage, all bets are off!
