2014 Skincare Favourites

2014 Skincare Favourites

Welcome to the second part of my 2014 Favourites! In my last post, I shared my 2014 Makeup Favourites (you can catch up on that post here). Today is all about my 2014 Skincare Favourites, which were actually much harder to pick to than my makeup favourites. I’m a skincare junkie and use tons of different products on a regular basis, so narrowing down the ones I considered ‘favourites’ was quite a challenge. The products included in my 2014 Skincare Favourites are all products that I would repurchase in a heartbeat and would be my picks if I had to place a limit on the number of products I owned.

First up is the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which is definitely my favourite skin care product of 2014. It’s the most lovely hydrating cleanser which is closer to a balm than a gel cleanser, but works equally well to cleanse the skin in the morning, as it does to remove makeup. It’s actually the only product of this list that I have multiple backups, so that I never have run out. If you want to read a more detailed review, I have a whole post about it here. For removing my heavy duty waterproof, the Bourjois Express Eye Makeup Remover is by far my favourite. A couple seconds over my eye on a cotton pad, and everything comes off. No rubbing, or tugging on my eyes.

Before using my serums and oils, I love to use a toner. The Lush Eau de Roma Water is refreshing, plus it smells like roses. My favourite serum this year is definitely the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, it makes my skin feel so soft and is hopefully, keeping any new wrinkles at bay! The Clarins Blue Orchid Treatment Oil is far and away my favourite oil of 2014 (and that says a lot!). It really can’t be beat at keeping my skin looking hydrated and glowing. If you want to read more about the Clarins Oil, you can do so here.

My favourite moisturiser of 2014 is probably the most pricey skincare product I own, however it’s worth every penny. I picked up the MV Organics Rose Soothing Protective Moisturiser on a whim from Cult Beauty this fall and am absolutely head over heels in love with it. It’s a lightweight cream, which plumps up my skin and keeps it hydrated all day. Plus, my makeup seems to look so much better when I use this first. Because it’s so pricey, I keep it for when I’m having a bad skin day/it’s minus 30 degrees outside/my skin needs a treat. If you have the chance to pick it up, I highly highly recommend it. Worth every penny!

Finally, for treatments, my top favourites for 2014 were the Aesop Parsley Seed Mask and the Nude Miracle Mask. The Aesop mask gets top marks because it’s a clay mask that deep cleans, without drying out my already dry skin. I find it especially good for getting rid of the blackheads on my nose and chin. You can read my post on it here. The Nude Miracle Mask is an exfoliating and brightening mask that quickly cleanses and perks up my skin. I like this mask because it works so quickly, I can use it in the morning or at night.

So there you have, my 2014 Skincare Favourites.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

November Makeup Bag

November 2014 Makeup Bag

Despite already being halfway through November (definitely a little behind on this post!), I thought I would go ahead and share with you the products that in my November makeup bag. For me, November means acknowledging that winter is indeed coming/here (it’s snowing outside as I write this), and that’s reflected in my makeup choices.

Benefit Rockateur Blush – This is a rediscovery from my collection. I purchased it last winter, but it ended up getting pushed to the back of my drawer. I love the shade, it’s a dark rosey tone with a little some simmer to give it dimension. I’ve been wearing this non stop, it pairs perfectly alongside the darker lips and eyeshadows I’m wearing this month.

Almay Smart Shade Luminous Primer - With the colder weather, my skin needs all the luminosity that it can get. This primer is great, because not only does it give my skin a much needed glow, it also helps my makeup last all day.

Flower Cosmetics Eyeshadow Quad in EQ3 Foxy Browns - I was super excited when Flower Beauty launched in Canada, and immediately rushed out to pick up some of the products. This quad is perfect for the smokey eye looks that I love for the cooler months. All the shades are super buttery and pigmented.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Hunk – These butter lipsticks are amazing! They’re pigmented and glossy, but can be worn sheer or build up. As with October, I’ll still in love with dark lips, this shade reminds me a sheer more hydrating version of MAC’s Heroin.

Clarins Instant Concealer in 01 – In addition to needing some serious glow, I also need to hide the redness that comes with winter skin. This concealer is a new favourite! It’s not drying on the skin, and offers serious lightweight coverage. Fast becoming a favourite.

Maybelline Brow Drama – This fall has been all about the brows for me. I’ve always maintained them, but now I’m starting to actually work with them, and not just ignore them. This brow mascara is perfect, because it defines, fills in some sparser areas and sets everything in place, in one smooth motion. Perfect for 6am makeup time.

So there you have it, the items featuring prominently in my November makeup bag.

What products are you reaching for this month?

Thanks so much for stopping by!
