Mini Reviews for Minis – Benefit Edition

Benefit Minis Review

It’s time for another mini reviews for mini products post, I had such a great time writing the first post (read it here), and got such a great response, I decided to make it a regular feature. This edition is an all Benefit edition! Benefit as a company is so great with minis, especially around Christmas when you can buy a range of different gift sets loaded with minis. As a serious lover of mini products, I think Benefit makes some of the best. They’re literally mini versions of the product, like the adorable mini facial serum bottle. The products included in this Mini Reviews for Minis – Benefit Edition have been collected over the past couple of months, either at events such as Spark Sessions or purchased as part of a set.

Instant Comeback Facial Serum – As a skincare junkie, I was super excited to for this serum. It claims that with use “tired skin looks plumped and hydrated and feels firmer, smoother…energized”, as my skin is tired and dehydrated, it’s got my name all over it. Usually skincare claims are slightly over exaggerated, however in this case, the serum definitely did what it claims. After my first use, my skin looked brighter and smoother, and stayed hydrated throughout the day. It’s become my go-to serum in the morning, replacing both a hydrating serum and an anti aging serum. *Would I buy the full size? Absolutely!

Ooh La Lift – This product has been part of Benefit’s line for a number of years, but it’s my first time trying it. It’s a creamy instant under eye brightening boost, that’s applied with a doe foot applicator. For me, it’s not enough to wear alone under the eyes, as my dark circles need serious help. It does however work great when layered with my concealer, and definitely adds a brightening element.  For me, where this product really shines is to brightened the inner corner of my eyes, it gives the area a natural glow without looking overdone. I also like to use it as a subtle brow bone highlighter. *Would I buy the full size? Most likely

They’re Real Push-Up Liner – There was a lot of hype when this liner was released, however once it got into bloggers hot little hands, the reviews were not all positive. I’m a full on liner newbie, so it wasn’t high on my list of products to pick up, though the reviews didn’t help. My first experience was at Spark Sessions, where I was able to get it applied and see how it worked on me. It was love at first use! I loved how it looked, and how well it lasted on my very oily eyelids. I think this will always be one of those products that people either love or hate. It’s quite a thick formula, which if you’re a pro at eyeliner may not be the best, for me as an eyeliner newbie, it’s perfect. It’s almost like starting with a thick pencil when learning to write. A lot of product does come out at once from the applicator tip, so I actually dispense it on my hand and then dip the tip into it, to apply it to my eyes. *Would I buy the full size? Absolutely, already have!

It’s Potent! Eye Cream – Love love love this eye cream! It’s super hydrating, which my under eyes desperate need (especially in the winter).  It has quite a thick, balmy consistency, so you need very little cover your whole eye area. Considering how hydrating it is, it absorbs very quickly and I’m able to use it in the morning under concealer with no issues. *Would I buy the full size? Absolutely

Lolli Tint – This is a creamy liquid tint in a beautiful purple orchid shade. These tints can be used on both the cheek and lip, and come with a brush applicator. The texture of these is super liquidly and blends easily onto both the lips and cheeks. While I love the concept of the tint, the shade isn’t the most flattering with my complexion. *Would I buy the full size? Not in this shade, will definitely check out the other versions

So there you have it, an all Benefit edition of my mini review for minis post!

Have you tried any of these products?

November 2014 Favourites

November 2014 Favourites

Well it’s once again Favourites time! November has flown by, this month had the Sephora VIB Sale, my birthday, Spark Sessions and IMATS. As I managed to do some serious hauling this month, I’m still testing a bunch of the products, so this months favourites are things that I have been using and loving throughout the month. It’s a mix of new products, and a couple of rediscoveries.

Benefit Gimme Brows in Light/Medium – I’ve had this brow gel for ages, but pulled it back out after I ran out of my Anastasia Brow Wiz. I forgot how easy it was to get amazing eye brows with this. A quick swipe of this across my brows and the sparse areas are filled in, and the brows are defined. Not sure I’ll ever go back to a pencil again.

Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Palette in Bare Necessities – Yup, that’s right. Another nude palette is being included in my favourites. I have a nude palette problem. Moving beyond that, this little palette packs a serious punch. The shades are warmer than most of my other nude eyeshadow palettes, and some are quite similar to the Naked 3 palette. There’s 5 shimmery shades and 1 matte, which normally I wouldn’t be a fan of, however these aren’t overly shimmery and are so buttery and easy to blend. Plus the size makes it great for travelling.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze – This is another rediscovery for me. This was probably the first colour tattoo I ever bought! It was well loved, but got pushed aside for other cream eyeshadows. It’s again in heavy rotation in my makeup bag. For days when I don’t have a lot of time, a swipe of this across my eyelid makes it look like I put in way more of an effort than I actually did. Plus, it stays all day.

Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher in 2 Fair – I’m having a serious love affair with Charlotte Tilbury at the moment (and Beautylish who’s quick delivery helps enable the affair). The Retoucher is basically a hybrid between a concealer and a highlighter. As if YSL Touche Eclat and Nars Creamy Concealer had a beautiful rose gold baby. This is just the perfect concealer for under the eyes. It doesn’t crease or settle in my fine lines, plus it isn’t drying. On days when I’m going for a light base, I’ll use this to both conceal and highlight. Love love love.

Christian Dior Rouge Dior Baume in 788 Fleur Bleue – This is a new release from Christian Dior. It’s a lipstick/balm hybrid, which is super easy to apply, but packs a serious colour punch. I’m easing my way into wearing red lips, and this semi-sheer formula is perfect. It’s low maintenance and super hydrating, it’s definitely pricey but so gorgeous.

Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille – I am absolutely, 100% in love with this fragrance. It is just…I have no words. Picked this up at the Sephora VIB Sale, and have been wearing it non stop. It’s a sophisticated smokey vanilla scent, that I just cannot get enough of. It’s musky, yet feminine. I was pricey, even with the VIB discount, so I’m trying not to over use it, but man. It’s just amazing.

So there you have it, some serious ramblings about my favourite products of November.
