No Makeup Makeup Look

No Makeup Makeup

One of my favourite makeup looks is the no makeup makeup look; a very “me but polished look”. I probably spend way too much time playing around with how to look natural and put together, without looking like I’m wearing makeup. I’m serious obsessed with having a flawless looking base, so in this look, 4 of the 6 products are for my base. Basically, I’m happy as long as I have a good base.

As my based I use the Almay Smart Shade Primer, which I have just recently discovered. It takes down the redness in my skin, while evening out my complexion, I love that it feels like a serum, and not a primer. With that, I mix in a few drops of the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, which is my holy grail concealer. I find that the pump for the pro longwear dispenses more product than I need to conceal, so this lets me even out my skin tone and not waste product. I then use the remaining concealer to conceal under my eyes, and anywhere that I need more coverage.

I set that with the MAC Skinfinish Natural in Medium using a dual fibre brush, which deposits a very light layer of powder. This is an old favourite that I rediscovered a couple months ago, and I love how well it sets everything, plus it adds a slight bit more coverage without looking cakey. For bronzer, I’m currently loving the Annabelle BB Bronzing Powder in Diva Bronze. I use this all over my face, and love the bronzed glow it gives my skin. I find that this is warm enough that I looking glowing and healthy, without using a blush on my cheeks. I also use this as an eyeshadow to define my crease; I like have a defined crease even when I’m not wearing any other eye makeup.

I use my L’Oreal Miss Manga Waterproof Mascara, which I’ve been loving recently. Finally, I apply my Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Ripe Raspberry, which is super pigmented and hydrating. If I find that I need a little more colour on my cheeks, I will apply some of this, just to give me a little bit of glow.

So there you have it! A peek at my base heavy no makeup makeup look.

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Drugstore Makeup Haul

Time for another drugstore makeup haul. There are a bunch of new releases at the drugstore right now, so of course I had to pick some of them up and share. I actually lucked out, because even though all but one of these products are new releases, they were all on sale. Aside from swatching them, I haven’t really used most of these products, so I’m excited to really start playing around with them.

L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara – This is a repurchase, it was on sale so I decided to stock up. L’Oreal makes a great waterproof formula, and combined with the Miss Manga brush it makes a great mascara that doesn’t smudge.

L’Oreal Collection Prive Lipstick in JLO’s Nude - I had heard a ton about this lipstick, but didn’t catch it the first time it was released. Swatched it seems like the perfect pinky nude, so I’m excited to try it.

L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream in Anti Fatigue – I have and really like the original version of this BB cream, and was intrigued by one designed for anti-fatigue. I swatched it when I got home, and it seems very orange, will definitely have to try it on my face and see how it goes.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Liquid Touch Foundation – I didn’t realize that Maybelline was releasing a new foundation, so I was super excited to spot this one. It dries almost instantly to a powdery feeling, and actually feels quite similar to the Lancome foundation I reviewed last week.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Leathers in Creamy Beige, Vintage Plum, Chocolate Suede & Dramatic Black – I have a number of Colour Tattoos, and have rarely been disappointed, so I was excited to see the display for these new ‘Leathers’ version. When swatched, they feel wetter than the originals, but have a goregous finish when they dry. I think I’m most excited for the dramatic black shade, which is a solid black shade with no shimmer.

Annabelle BB Bronzing Powder in Diva Bronze – I really like Annabelle products, so when I saw this giant bronzer, I couldn’t resist. It’s matte, and light enough to work with my pale skin without looking muddy.

Revlon Color Skinny in Mahogany Flame – I picked this up because of the fine tip, I’m not the best at liquid liners, so I’m hoping this fine tip will make it easier to work with.

Have you picked up any of these new releases?
