The Bases

Foundation Menu

I love bases. I’m always testing out new ones, trying to find that perfect BB Creme/Tinted Moisturizer/Foundation. So I thought I would share with you the bases that are currently in my rotation. I tend to use a different bases depending on what my plans are for the day, and so usually have at least 3 bases on the go (See I told you I like bases!).

Vichy Idealia BB Creme – I picked this up on the recommendation of the lovely Kelly from Glitter Diaries, and I absolutely love it. It’s a great lightweight base, that provides great coverage for a BB Creme. This is my go-to base for days when I want to even out my skin tone, and achieve the your skin but better look. This is also perfect for my much loved, no makeup makeup days.

Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation – This foundation was just released here in Canada, and I picked it up based on all the great reviews of both it and the BB Cream version (which sadly has yet to be released in Canada). It’s a great foundation, feels super lightweight on the skin but can be built up to a medium-full coverage. This is my normal work day foundation at the moment, and I’m really impressed with how it lasts throughout the day. The only issue I have with it is the shade selection. I have shade 51, which is the lightest shade and while it initially swatches out to be the perfect shade for my NC20-ish skin, it actually oxidizes to closer to an NC25 shade. So if you’re any lighter than an NC20, I would definitely suggest trying it, and letting it set to make sure the shade isn’t too dark.

Houglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint - I feel like a choir singing every time I open this foundation. It is by far the most expensive foundation that I have ever purchased ($64 CDN…eeek!), and it is 100% worth every penny. Officially, it’s called a skin tint, but it’s definitely a foundation. I have dehydrated skin, and I find the hyaluronic acid included in this foundation helps to keep my skin from feeling tight and dry at the end of the day. More importantly, it also gives my skin the most amazing finish, it’s almost like a primer and foundation in one. I use this as my special occasion base (yes, that’s a thing!), and it’s my go-to for meetings, events and anytime I need the best, happiest looking skin.

So there you have it, my thoughts on the bases that are currently in rotation.

What bases are you currently loving? I’m always on the lookout for new ones.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bite Beauty Lip Love Kit

Bite Beauty Lip Love Kit

Sephora is literally teaming with Christmas gift sets at the moment, all of which I am desperately trying to avoid buying. I really dislike that Christmas sets come out in October, because you really have to buy them now, because they sell out so quickly. For the most part, I have successfully avoided buying any of the Christmas sets, with the exception of this Bite Beauty Lip Love kit. I’ve had my eye on all of the products included in the kit, but don’t own any of them, so I caved in and picked it up.

The Bite Beauty Lip Love Kit includes a full size of the Bite BB for Lips in the shade Tawny, a mini Agave Lip Mask, a mini Cherry Lip Scrub and two of the Lush Lip Wipes for $40.00 CDN. Considering the BB for Lips sells for $28, I would say this isn’t a bad deal value wise.

I’ve played with all of the products in the kit, with the exception of the lip wipes, and I’m overall super impressed. They’re all lovely products, the BB for Lips is a great balm, with a sheer red tint that has become a staple in my purse. The Cherry Lip Scrub smells like cherry candy, and is a great lip exfoliant.

Finally, the much raved about Agave Lip Mask, is it worth the hype? It feels like a thick lip balm, smells delicious and while it’s quite hydrating, it doesn’t last through the night the same way the Nuxe Reve de Miel does. However, I suspect this will become my go-to daytime lip balm during the winter months, because it is incredibly hydrating and feels lovely on the lips.

Overall, if you’re looking to try some of Bite Beauty much raved about lip treatments, this is definitely a great set to pick up!

So there you have it, my thoughts on the Bite Beauty Lip Love kit.

Have you tried any of these products?
