May 2014 Favourites

It’s Favourites time again. I love to read favourites blog posts, and these are often the posts that inspire the most purchases.

The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Butter - I’ve long been a fan of The Body Shop’s body butters, they’re super hydrating and always have such lovely scents. This raspberry scent is by far my favourite! It’s sweet and tart all at once, and the scent lingers through the day.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette – I finally got my hands on this when it was made permanent, and Sephora starting stocking it on their website. It was definitely worth the wait, these powders are just so pretty and flattering on the skin. I’ve been using all 3 of them regularly and just love the look they give to my skin. Read my post about the palette here.

Sonia Kashuk Pearlescence Long Wear Creme Shadow in Quartz - I picked this cream eyeshadow while I was out running errands at Target. I love the Sonia Kashuk brushes, but haven’t tried much of their makeup. This is a lovely brown shimmery cream eyeshadow, that is most definitely long wearing. I love to use it by itself for a wash of colour across my lids.

The Face Shop Bright Eyes Modelling Gel Patch – I picked these up on my first ever trip to The Face Shop earlier this month, and am in love with them. They are as the name describes, gel eye patches that do an amazing job at hydrating my dry and tired under eyes. The best part is, at $4 a pack, you really can’t go wrong.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer in Radiant - This has become my go-to highlighter for my face. It’s got a lovely creamy consistency, which blends seamlessly with my makeup and just gives my face a subtle hint of light. I’ve tried my fair share of highlighting pens, both high and low end, and this is by far my favourite.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – I’ve already written a whole post about how much I love this concealer (you can read it here), but still had to include it in my favourites, because it’s that good. It stays put all day, and covers my dark circles without flaking or settling into my fine lines. I’ve been mixing it with the Dream Lumi mentioned above, and combined they conceal and brighten beautifully.

Benefit BeneBalm - I was really excited to see that Benefit was releasing a line of tinted balms to go with their tints. They use to have a version of the Benetint balm in a jar, which I loved and was sad to see that they discontinued. I really like this balm. It’s a lovely moisturizing balm, that adds a sheer wash of red to the lips. I find that it stains the lips slightly, so even after the balm wears off, the colour stays behind.

Essence Kalinka Beauty Blush in East Side Story - This was my very first essence purchase, I was at a random Shoppers Drug Mart while travelling on business, and came across a display with all the Kalinka line. I tend to gravitate towards peach and coral blush shades, so I picked this up. It’s such a lovely peachy shade, that lasts throughout the day, and has a sheen to it, without being sparkly or glittery. I’m not sure if this collection is available anymore, but I will definitely be checking out their other products.

What are you favouriting this month?

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring Makeup Edit

Spring Edit

Now that the warm weather is finally here, I thought I would share with you some of my makeup picks for a spring/summer glow.

In the warmer weather there is definitely a fine line between glowy dewy skin (which I love) and glowy sweaty skin (which I don’t love). I’ve bee really loving the Happy Light Luminous Primer by Bourjois, it adds a glow to the skin but still controls oil and helps your makeup to last. I’ve been using it under my go-to NARS Tinted Moisturizer and have been really loving how how it looks.

Springtime is when I also switch out my Body Shop Honey Bronzer for a darker shade of bronzer. I love this Too Faced Bronzed & Poreless Bronzer, it’s a little too dark for me in the winter, but perfect for the warmer weather when my skin tone is a little darker. For my cheeks I tend to like a blush with more of a sheen, again to give my skin that ‘it’s finally warm’ glow I love so much. I picked up the Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in Coral back when they were first released, however I’ve only started using it recently, it adds a lovely peachy glow to my skin.

I’m a neutral eyeshadow girl, I cannot count the number of neutral eyeshadows I have (well I could, but I definitely wouldn’t want to!), however the warmer weather is when I like to play with some colour. These Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes are great, they’re a cream stick that sets and doesn’t move. I love the wash of colour that they give, and that they can be built up to a more intense look. The shades I’m loving right now are Biggest Blossom and Lavish Lilac.

Mascara wise, the warm weather is when I absolutely need a waterproof mascara that won’t give me panda eyes. I’ve been testing out this new Revlon Bold Lacquer Waterproof mascara and have been really enjoying it. It gives a glossy, lacquered look to my lashes, with no smudging or panda eyes, this one could definitely be a winner.

For lips, warm weather is when it’s time to bring out the brights! I love me a good chubby lip pencil and the Bourjois Color Boost in Fuchsia is a lovely wash of bright pink, without being high maintenance or drying on the lips.  A new edition to my bright lip collection is The Body Shop Colour Crush Shine Lipstick in Fuchsia (are we seeing a trend here!). It provides a more intense wash of colour, and feels incredibly hydrating on the lips.

What are your picks for your warm weather makeup edit?
